SOME OF THE INFORMATION ON THIS (AND LINKED) PAGE(S) MAY NOT BE UPDATED FOR 2012
Single nucleotide polymorphisms are discrete Mendelian traits!
Here is the course announcement.
Here is a draft schedule:
only partially updated for this year.
The draft schedule is usually the first place
I update and check links.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT ANY NON-WORKING LINKS THAT YOU BELIEVE SHOULD BE WORKING.
Kirk Li (kirkli@uw.edu) will be assisting with three main aspects of this
class:
(1) He will assist those students NOT from STAT and BIOST with the background
Probability and Statistics knowledge (conditional probability,
maximum likelihood etc.) required to get the most out of this class.
(2) He will assist all in Computing -- primarily accessing and using linux
systems.
(3) He will be updating the StatGen computing web pages that provide
information for (2), and also links to software which can be downloaded
to your laptops, or used directly on the Biostat linux computers.
None of the books are necessary: some may be helpful.
My book might be most useful (except the relevant bits are mostly in notes
I'll provide on the web).
Weir's book is useful.
Ott's book will be very
useful for those going on through Stat/Biostat 552, but less so for this first
course.
Lange's book is there mainly so we can put a library reserve hold
on it. It has some very good bits.
is good, but is NOT an "instant-messaging" system. Note my preferred email is eathomp@uw.edu.
The following is OLD -- it may/maynot work.
HERE is a link to StatGen computing page. You will need your UWNet ID to access this page.
HERE is some information on how to get yourself set up for the computing for this class. (NOT YET)
We will be using some of the software for Statistical Genetics
installed on the Biostat
linux cluster.
I will provide a list of full names and UWNet IDs to the
Biostat systems administrator,
after the first day of class.
If you miss this list,
please get yourself a Biostat account if you do not have one.
Here are some bits and pieces of possible help: they are also linked in the lab docs:
Papers have been
