ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:

DO:

  • provide a concise problem statement (distill the salient points from the problem narrative)

  • provide enough room for a clear layout; continue on another page if necessary
  • use engineering paper or other paper with a light-colored background, and a dark pencil or ink
  • always expect to recopy an answer after working through it the first time (this will encourage you to try alternate methods and double-checks, as well as ensure a neat, well laid-out solution)
  • state assumptions; explain your reasoning!

DON’T:

  • write lightly in pencil on a light background (hard to read)
  • submit papers with ragged edges (hard to handle)
  • make random disembodied calculations without explanation (hard to understand)
