About me
I, Greg Crowther, am a research scientist
in the Division of Allergy &
Infectious Diseases within the
Department
of Medicine, which is part of the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in
Seattle. My official title is Acting Instructor, although I don't currently teach any classes. Instead,
under the direction of Wes
Van Voorhis,
I do research on
protozoan parasites such as Plasmodium, which causes malaria. As part of this work,
I contribute to TDRtargets.org, an online
database that expedites the development of new drugs for neglected tropical diseases.
I grew up in Rutland, Vermont and attended Rutland
High School. This was followed by
undergraduate studies at
Williams College,
graduate work with Kevin Conley and
Marty
Kushmerick in the UW Department of Physiology & Biophysics, a year of
teaching experience at the University of Puget Sound, and a postdoctoral fellowship with
Mary Lidstrom
in the UW Departments of Microbiology
and Chemical Engineering.
My hobbies include running with my son in very short races
and running with other adults in much longer ones.
