New Autism Research Centers

On April 1, 2008, the National Institutes of Health announced that four new Autism Centers of Excellence (ACE) program grants will be awarded. These grants will fund research into the possible causes and treatment of autism. People with autism have communication and social interaction problems and often show repetitive behaviors. The cause of autism and autism spectrum disorders is unknown.

The new ACE grants go to:

• Ami Klin (Yale University)
• Daniel Geschwind (University of California Los Angeles)
