May 13: Life in Chengdu

Today we will do some lighter things while you work on your first drafts of your individual or group proposals. We are inviting students from UW (mainly groups 10 through 13, since Chengdu has changed so much since 2007 that it's likely group 1-7 students wouldn't recognize a lot of things), as well as SCU students from Group 14, currently at the UW. They will hold forth on:
  • Differences in academic expectations of students at US and PRC universities
  • Housing and living arrangements in Chengdu
  • Fun things to do
  • How to stay healthy and happy in a foreign environment
We also hope to encourage you to look at a re-accessible Student Wiki Guide, and be prepared to help update this guide when you spend your year in Chengdu.
