April 29: Project Ideas

Today you will each need to prepare and present a one-page preliminary idea of what your research project might be. You may prepare these in either individually or as part of a group. You should post them by 5:00 p.m on Thursday, April 28. By noon on the day of class, you should look over everyone else's ideas and post a comment or question on at least one other person's proposal. You might also want to print them out and bring them to class; this is optional.

To give you more ideas, a lot of relevant documents, including previous students' proposals, abstracts of current proposals, published and other finished work from students in prior years, are all posted on the resource archive page.

In class, each individual or group will have a total of 15-20 minutes to summarize their proposal briefly and to answer questions from the class about their proposal.

To help you out thinking more concretely about what you want to do and what kind of proposal you will need to write, please have a look at the resources page.
