Undergraduate Research Opportunity in Organic Electronics

I am looking for two undergraduate students to join my research group.
I am conducting research on organic electronics with applications on photovoltaics (OPV), light-emitting diodes (OLED), and transistors.  Highly motivated students should take a look at my research website (http://faculty.washington.edu/schoi5) and directly contact me. Preference will be given to students who are interested in attending graduate school and pursuing research careers.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Position 1

  • Must be an EE major
  • Courses taken: Devices and Circuits (Required), and Semiconductor Devices (Optional)
  • Focus: study organic based photovoltaic technologies including fundamentals of photovoltaics, materials, and characterization.
  • High personal motivation, self-management, and detail-orientation.

 

Position 2

  • Organic chemistry major or EE major with organic chemistry background.
  • Courses taken: General chemistry (Required) and Organic chemistry (Optional)
  • Focus: study various organic semiconductors (small molecules or polymers) which are used in various organic electronics applications.

 

Common skills for both positions

  • Ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.
  • Ability to review, survey literatures with given topics and analyze, summarize and organize them.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong academic writing skills.
  • Must attend weekly meeting and do the power point presentation.
