Personnel failure
If a resident does not show up for a shift, call the chief residents and the on-call ERad attending. Early on Friday afternoon, it is a good idea to contact the late stay resident to ensure that he or she is aware of their shift obligation.
If the ERad attending does not show up for a shift, and has not contacted anyone else to explain that they may be late or in another meeting, page the attending to confirm that he or she is on their way. If you get no response, discuss with other available staff or page the Section chief (Dr. Gross).
If unable to reach attending on-call at night, call or page the attending that is scheduled for the following morning shift. If s/he is unreachable, call or page any other attending.
