• We used to print posters at Odegaard, but those services may have entirely moved to the UW printing centers run by Creative Communications. At the time it was easy and inexpensive, although lines could be long before conferences, and getting reimbursed was challenging. Stop by Odegaard to ask. The Odegaard plotter printed 42" wide and as long as you want, at $0.50/in + $1 (as of Feb 2010). It is a good idea to print an 11x17" color version as a final check before printing the big one. Or make a 2" slice of your poster that contains the most complex equations and photo images to print and check.

• Printing large format (44"x60", with 1/2" margins?) posters on the 2nd floor of the Art Building costs $40 (as of 2011). M-Th 9am-10pm, Fri-Sun 10-6. Advantages: No (explicit) conversion of file types as at Odegaard. Bring memory stick with poster in PDF with fonts embedded (or convert to outlines). Powerpoint works worse. Disadvantages: Long line if before student art projects are due. They prefer files made by Adobe Illustrator and they may need to help you format your file. Print a test. The main method of payment is via a card that you have to buy (beforehand? only on weekdays?). JV fund transfer may be possible if arrange beforehand. No web presence/info since they are already at capacity.
