Morgan Pearl

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Washington Seattle campus. I am majoring in Spanish with hopes to pursue a masters in teaching to become a high school Spanish teacher. I decided to take this indigenous activists and leaders class because it will enable me to learn more about the history of Latin America and it’s people, because much of their culture comes from indigenous peoples.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling to Spanish speaking countries where I use my skills to engage with and learn about new cultures. In 2014, I traveled to Cuba where my love of Spanish grew and I decided to commit myself to teaching others about the language, culture, and people. In 2015, I traveled to Nicaragua where I biked to a village far from town and donated school supplies to the children there. These experiences were very eye opening to the struggles people face in different parts of the world.

Me, at Kerry Park on July 6, 2016.
