High Lead Content
September 8, 2014

FGX International has recalled 215,000 pairs of childrens sunglasses because they contain high levels of lead in the surface paint. The recall involves 20 different styles of Disney, Marvel and Sears/Kmart brand sunglasses. The glasses are available in several colors and have pictures of characters on the frames. The products were sold at Bon Ton, CVS, K-mart, Rite-Aid, Walgreens and other stores in the United States from December 2013 to March 2014 for between $7 and $13.

Lead is toxic to many organs of the body. It is especially dangerous because it can damage the brain and peripheral nerves. Lead can affect anyone, but children are especially at risk because they are still growing rapidly. People who have these sunglasses should stop using them and either replace them or take them back for a refund.
