The Internet preserves conversations.  Let us go back to the morning of 9/11.  We know exactly what people were saying when the tragedy occurred.  Here are a couple of conversations [Warning:  Some of the reactions are raw- sensitive information.]

 

 

Obviously, we don't know what people were saying when we had tragedies in the past of the same magnitude- e.g. Pearl Harbor.

 

9/11 also demonstrated the waning power of newspapers.  The incidents took place early in the morning.  Yet, most newspapers were able to report it the next morning- i.e., almost 24 hours after the incident.  Internet and TV emerged as complimentary media.
