There is information everywhere on the Web. We are deluged with information.
"Information overload" and "Clutter" are the buzzwords of
the day.
There is a lot of good information on the Internet. At the same time, there is a lot of bad
information- rumor, innuendo, parody, propaganda etc. Famously, Nathan Myhrvold, Microsoft's then chief technology
officer said on August 11, 1997 that the Internet is full of
"crap." [Cite] When I need
to separate urban legend from fact, I go to Snopes.
They track the veracity of rumors and urban legends of all types.
It is no wonder that search services is a huge market. Take Google,
for instance. This is one of the most
innovative companies I know. Mastering
the search process at Google can boost your productivity. Take a hard look at Google's Lab. Google just bought Blogger. Have you heard of the term Google Bombing
[it is a way to "trick" Google]? GoogleAlert
is a free e-mail service that lets you track three search phrases on
Google. GoogleDuel is entertaining.
