Scholarship

My teaching and research activities are very strongly linked.  I have secured research funding as PI or Co-PI for sixteen (16) research projects from federal, state, and private sources, and sustained a continuous and connected publication record with my teaching activities.  I am engaged in research activities with broad impact on current issues, ranging from basic and descriptive research of the changing patterns in ecological processes to human health factors in walkable urban communities. I collaborate in research addressing animal behavior, emergency response to natural disasters, and public policy analysis affecting the future use of the world’s ocean resources.
