Capturing Screen Shots

The free media players listed below allow you to capture single frames from a DVD; the free screen capture utilities allow you to select an area of your screen to capture, and let you save the image in multiple file formats.

• Jing
  Jing lets you select and capture an image from your DVD player screen. For Mac OS X and Windows.
• KM Player
  Windows-compatible media player that lets users capture discrete frames. The "Frame Forward" function is useful for capturing a series of screen shots. For Windows.
• VLC Media Player
  Player's "Video" menu has a "Snapshot" option. Pause your DVD at the shot you wish to capture and select Video-->Snapshot. VLC works on both Mac and Windows operating systems.
• SnapNDrag
  For Mac OS X, SnapNDrag saves images in .tiff, .png, and .jpg format.
