Quizzes

The three Quizzes are each 20-minute closed-book test taken in your section meeting. Generally we expect that they will be given in the second half of your section meeting, from 8.55 to 9.15, or from 9.55 to 10.15. The use of calculators in quizzes is encouraged: a calculator performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and other basic arithmetical functions will be sufficient, but any calculator may be used. A caculator with a square-root function may be useful.

You must take your quiz in the section in which you are registered. Except in pre-arranged special circumstances, only students registered in that quiz section may attend that section on a quiz day.

    Midterm Exam: Friday Feb 8, 8.30-9.20, 2008

NOTE: WE WILL USE SIEG 134 AS WELL AS JHN 102 for the MIDTERM EXAM

A calculator (as in the above section) is recommended.

Each student may bring a single 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper with notes, possibly written on both sides, to the Midterm Exam. It may be hand-written, or typed, or word-processed, etc. .... but it is strongly recommended that you prepare your own sheet of notes (perhaps working with your peers).
Preparing your sheet of notes is a very useful revision tool.

  • Here is A short version of a Normal table. A copy of this will be provided with your midterm exam.

    Final Exam: Tuesday March 18, 8.30-10.20, 2008

THE FINAL EXAM WILL BE IN SMITH 120 FOR EVERYONE

You will need a working calculator (NO cell phones).

Each student may bring a single 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper with notes, possibly written on both sides, to the Final Exam. It may be hand-written, or typed, or word-processed, etc. .... but it is strongly recommended that you prepare your own sheet of notes (perhaps working with your peers).
