Sometimes I ask myself the same question. Let's start at the end...
I went to Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in a few places including:
I graduated from Grant High School in 1976 (Los Angeles, California).
I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Psychobiology.
Then it was off to the National Institutes of Health in the Washington, D.C. area for post-doctoral training (1986-1989).
Then, it was back to Seattle and the University of Washington (UW) in 1991 where I did some teaching in the Department of Psychology before taking a research position in the Department of Anesthesiology. In 2006, I became a Research Associate Professor in the UW Department of Bioengineering and in 2011 I took on the responsibilities as the Executive Director of the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering.
