In November 2006, Boston University announced that it had received $9.2
million from the National Institutes of
Health to create the Silvio O. Conte Centers for Neuroscience
Research on the Functional Circuitry of the Hippocampus. Scientists
in the new center will study memory and how it is affected by aging, brain
damage and neurological diseases. Key researchers at the center include
Boston University professors Howard Eichenbaum, Michael Hasselmo, Chantal Stern,
Nancy Kopell and John White.
Did you know? | Silvio O. Conte was a Massachusetts congressman who was a strong supporter of neuroscientific and mental health research. He died in 1991. |
