I’ve Seen Enough! Health and Wellbeing in the Content Review Industry
This study aims to find ways to promote health and wellbeing among those in the content review industry. We know that content moderators do the essential work of removing the most harmful images, videos, and text from the internet in order to make everyone’s experience a safer one. Through this study, we hope to develop concrete ideas for how the tech industry can best support content moderators.
To advance this science, we are looking for content moderators (i.e., individuals employed to review distressing content and make determinations about suitability for platform/product), data labelers (e.g., sort and label content, transcription, translation), and technical support workers (e.g., customer service) to participate in a 3-month long study. to participate in a 3-month long study. By participating, you can help us:
- Learn about the mental health burden associated with performing content moderation
- Identify specific job-related factors that lead to better or worse health in content moderators
- Better understand the experiences of those employed in the content review industry
- Develop concrete solutions to reduce the impact of content moderation on mental health
