Unit Objectives
1. Students will investigate objects, or material culture, as a starting point for discussing cultural identity.
2. Students will practice storytelling as a means of communicating their own sense of identity.
3. Students will conduct interviews as a means of gathering primary source information.
4. Students will analyze their findings (objects, stories, testimonies) by searching for commonalities and differences, and broadening their understanding of other cultural groups.
5. Students will explore traditions, festivals, and ceremonies as enduring makers of cultural identity.
6. Students will plan a classroom exhibit in their own practice of cultural representation.
