Transgenic Mouse Resource for Interferon-stimulated PKR Protein Kinase Pathway Genes

Research Topic
Mouse Lines
We are generating transgenic mice overexpressing PKR regulatory pathway genes, using a general tissue promoter, and wild type as well as dominant negative gene mutations. The specific pathway genes consist of P58IPK and PKR. We have generated a PKRCMV line.

Mouse Line Information

Embryonic Stem Cell Lines
We are developing genetically altered mouse ES cell lines overexpressing the PKR regulatory pathway genes PKR, and P58IPK.

Mouse Phenotyping
We are characterizing and phenotyping unique lines of PKR pathway transgenic mice for specific diseases and biological conditions. We anticipate these transgenic mouse models will have far reaching implications for biomedical research as well as for spontaneously occurring virus diseases of laboratory rodents.

These mice will be great models for investigating the translational mechanics of the following diseases and subjects:

  • Neuromuscular Diseases (e.g. Hutington's, Alzheimer's)
  • Immunity
  • Cancer
  • Environmental Stress
  • DNA Damage and Repair
  • Viral infection (Influenza, AIDS, Hepatitis C)
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Muscle Development and Aging
