THURSDAY, MAY 22
INTERIM REPORTS AND THE POLITICS OF TRASH

Things for today:

We will spend the first hour and a little more, as I mentioned, looking at your slides and listening to your preliminary reports about your group projects.

We will spend the second half of the class talking about the politics of waste disposal, connecting the specifics to the notion of environmental justice. Just one reading, since you are busy: Shu-hsiang Hsu's NIMBY opposition and solid-waste incinerator citing in democratic Taiwan. This will give you an interesting case that brings in the role of democracy in the politics of waste disposal.
