Other Interesting Sites

http://www.urbanpoverty.net/ This is the map-making website that I used in class to show poverty rates over time for Seattle and Detroit.  This is also a good source for residential segregation by race (but only Black, Hispanic and White)

Where Race Lives: Follow the "Tale of Two Families" link on this page to see a dramatization of some points from the Oliver & Shapiro reading (this requires javascript--if it won't run on your computer, it will run in the SSW lab)

Overview of Race and Hispanic Origin: Census 2000 brief on surveying and reporting race (pdf form)

Paul Krugman talk at the New School - this covers some of the same ground as the NYTimes Article.  This is a webcast viewable on RealPlayer (available via download or in the SSW lab)
