AP Compression Widened pubic symphysis, widened anterior SI joints If pure ligamentous injury, may not have fractures
Lateral Compression Sacral fracture, horizontally oriented superior pubic ramus fracture
Windswept Pelvis AP compression on one side, lateral compression on the other side
Vertical Shear Disrupted symphysis, sacral fracture or disrupted SI joint allowing one hemipelvis to displace superiorly Associated with fall from height, landing on one leg
