Pressure Drop for Fully Developed Laminar Flows through Square Channels with Junctions Ho Hack Song The purpose of this research is to the dimensionless pressure drop for laminar split and joining flow in square channels. By creating a model, the pressure, p’i, and the velocity, u’ i, at each position can be known from Comsol Multiphysics. In the equatins, D is the width of the square channel, <v> is average velocity, η is viscosity, and the delta-pi-j is actual pressure drop. All the correlations are expressed in terms of u’i. The reason is that the sum of outlet velocities in split flows needs to be equal to the inlet velocity. For joining flow, the sum of the inlet velocities needs to be equal to the outlet velocity. Since the inlet and outlet velocity in split and joining flow are constant, two other velocities can be expressed in terms of the constant velocity and each other.
