Course materials
Not all may be available yet: but if a link you think should be working
is not, please ask.
The primary materials are the lectures linked from the course home page.
Here are some supplementary materials.
Elementary introduction to genetics
These web notes were written for undergraduates, by an undergraduate.
But they may be a useful summary review.
Here is a summary of likelihood ideas and theory
(PDF version).
This material is covered briefly in the audio lectures,
but this is a more detailed
general summary than is there.
Here is a note about expectations
which may be
helpful to those with less probability and statistics background.
Week 9: Homework 8.
These can be done using the materials above. The final two lecture segments
Chapter 4, part 2 and
Chapter 4, part 3, are more for your
interest, background for Lab-5, and to complete the course.
Lab documents
Week 1:
HERE is some information on how to get
yourself set up for the computing for this class.
Problems with ssh, or graphics windows: try "ssh -X"
Week 2: Lab 1
(includes a link to the example files for lab 1)
See also Chapter 1, part 1 of the audio lectures.
Week 4: Lab 2
(includes a link to the example file for lab 2, and information on dowloading
your own version of Pedfiddler if you wish)
Pedfiddler is quite fun to play with, although it can waste a lot of time.
Currently Lab 2 is due May 5: let me know if there are techincal computing
problems.
Week 6: Lab 3
(includes links to the example files for lab 3)
Week 8: Lab 4
