Your grade will be based on 200 pts.

There will be a 20 pt quiz each on the week's material usually every Friday. There will be three occasions when there will be a "40 point" exam. Actually it wil be two 20 point exams.

There will also be an OPTIONAL Final Exam worth 40 pts (2 exams).

You are urged to monitor the "On-line Discussion Page" of the classw web site.

You are required to post two discussion comments on the "On-line Discussion Page" in the first four weeks of the quarter; two discussion comments in weeks 5, 6, 7; and two discussion comments in weeks 8,9,10. You will receive 2 extra credit points for each of these three time periods if you post.

If you take the Final :

either the Final or THE SUM OF THE LOWEST TWO quizzes will be dropped.

Example :

These are the scores of a student that did quite well except for exams 8 and 9.

1. 20

2. 19

3. 20

4. 20

5. 20

6. 18

7. 20

8. 10

9. 12

10. 20

The class SUM is 179 total points.

If this person took the Final and :

1) received 35 (out of 40) then quizzes 8 and 9 would be dropped ; and the SUM of points would be 192;

2) received 20 (out of 40) then the SUM would be unchanged.

You will have the option of ONE "no-questions-asked" make-up for the quarter. (note there may be need for additional make-ups, but you will need to get permission for those)

Exam questions are usually short-answer type .

There will be NO extra credit papers.
