The University of Washington's marine station at Friday Harbor, located in the spectacular setting of Washington's San Juan Islands, is the location of a good portion of the research done in the Swalla lab and also teaching by Dr Swalla. FHL is the oldest marine lab on the west coast and is now an entirely modern facillity, fully capable of meeting the needs of an investigator using molecular techniques, including a sequencing machine, available twenty-four hours a day.
