Objects in The Mountain Patterns Exhibit

Objects in the exhibit were designed to show Nuosu arts in their social context.

The illustration of the Nuosu life cycle begins with children's hats

and continues with a bright bridal costume, including copious amounts of silver, and the more subdued attire of an old lady.

Village lacquerware is displayed together with the tools used to make it.

This religious painting depicts the powerful Peacock Spirit, Shuohnie Volie, devouring a snake ghost.
