We will focus on developing and analyzing mechanistic, dynamic models of biological systems, so as to better understand these systems. This quarter, we will consider key questions and models in three of the oldest and most important branches of mathematical biology: theoretical population genetics, mathematical ecology, and mathematical epidemiology. Expect to apply difference equations, differential equations, dynamical systems theory, probability theory, simple stochastic models, and linear algebra to biological problems.
Please see the class notes for further details regarding class content.
