Wallis Island

Only 5 kilometers wide and 10 kilometers long this small French territory is rarely frequented by tourists but gets plenty of scientists. As we managed to explain to curious locals: “Nous sommes chercheurs scientifique et nous collectons les sediments au fond du lac pour trouver l’histoire du climat tropical”. Join us on our journey to the lakes on Wallis Island. Lac Lalolalo and Lac Lanutavake are 2.75km apart and the sediments preserved at the bottom of each lake should reveal changes in rainfall during the past 2,000 years.
