Note: Updating for academic year 2023-2024.
Prospective Students
I have been conducting research with a diverse group of researchers, many of whom are undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. students. I serve on doctoral committees across the Information School, the School of Computer Science & Engineering, the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education, Human Centered Design & Engineering, and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering. I can advise students at the Information School and Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering. I will be admitting Ph.D. students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
If you are highly self-motivated and experienced in conducting research in artificial intelligence, bias, and ethics, and are specifically focused on developing methods for evaluating and measuring language models, vision-language models, speech models, multimodality, machine learning models, and human-AI interaction, please feel free to reach out to me regarding potential research opportunities. I am currently leading a directed research group for the academic year 2023-2024, which is dedicated to exploring the AI Bias Feedback Cycle (INSC 578). Research assistant positions are available for specific grant projects aligned with these research directions.
I have been fortunate to collaborate with, advise, or co-advise the following researchers:
