Grading and Expectations
In addition to covering
the core topic of information behavior, this course is designed to help you
improve your skills in reading papers critically, defining and scoping a
project, writing about a project, and presenting a body of work. The assignments
in this course correspond to this style.
Expectations:
- Class Participation - I hope this course will be a fun as well as
educational experience, and part of the fun comes from participating in class
discussions, group exercises, class presentations, and discussions on the
message board. All students are expected to attend class and participate in
these activities. For each class, you will either be asked either to prepare answers
for specific questions related to the readings for that class, or to post your general comments about the readings to the
LIS 510 newsgroup.
- Academic Honesty - To prevent possible misunderstandings, students
will read the University of Washington's
Statement on
Academic Honesty. All students are expected to follow these
high standards of academic honesty in all aspects of this course.
