Eli Kristy on Wood-Borne Fungi
Though I did find an impressive variation of fungal
species, the alteration of soil nutrients due to
necessary resident human livelihood surely has had
effect on the types of fungi that occur there. As
wood is such a precious, rare and restricted commodity
in this region, I was not successful in discovering
and collecting many species, which are ordinarily plentiful, that
occur on rotting wood. Those which exist in
relationship to such a substrate, were found only in
decomposing piles of collected firewood.
