This has been reposted from our lab tumblelog

The experiment I started at the end of January will be wrapping up this month.  These young oysters have been conditioning in the lab (heat, food, Barry White..ok, not really that last one) and half have been receiving EE2 treatment.  They still need a few more weeks before gender can be determined by light microscopy, but in the meantime I will start analyzing the day 7 samples.  I am really interested in looking for epigenetic changes at this early time-point.

I will also be working on writing a proposal for a USDA post doc fellowship to study oyster reproduction.  This proposal is due March 14th so I should wrap up this goals report and get to work!
