We're here.
JeniMarie lives out on the Paseo Marítimo. This is a shot of the view from her front
door, and a bus pass she uses to get to and from the Casco Viejo. When
the warm weather arrives "La movida" (weekend allnight partying) will
relocate
to this area (from the Plaza Mina and Plaza de España and in
between) .
Concerts and dances on the beach. Hard to beat!
Rita is back and strumming up a storm. She says:
Shanna and Melissa C. have found Cádiz a bit
colder than anticipated. The foliage may look tropical, but it's been wet and chilly on
the Alameda. Their news: "Estamos en España. No hay prisa. (We're in Spain.
There's no rush!)."
Leah, Kerry and Kim (all three at the "Res"). They hopped on the train for Sevilla
and saw the sights. Here's the proof: A train ticket and a shot of Kim at a soccer
game. She says: "En hora y media y con 12 dólares fui a Sevilla para mucho
cachondeo!" No Joke!
Leah's proof (her note: "fui a Sevilla y vi a unas bailaoras y compré un postal. Estoy
aprendiendo a bailar Sevillanas"):
Then ERIN lets us know where she spends her weekend nights (These
spots only get interesting after about 1:30 in the morning!) Erin says:
"La Punta es un sitio donde hay muchos clubs que están situados en
la playa. "Anfiteatro" es el más grande y tiene buenas escaleras
(terraced steps) desde donde también se baila. Buena parte de la
música que
se toca allí es "techno/break beat".
From David we get to remember last fall's trip to Playa de
Bolonia.
Kristin and JeniMarie took a trip to Ronda. Kristin
submitted
the following:
Oh to have a view like Amy's from her bedroom window in Campo
del Sur:
After about a month, some students felt like a good old favorite from
home,
so Travis Jo and Kristin organized a pesto party one night
at the RD's apt., where kitchen privledges allow for experimentation.
(Pictured are Amy (back to), Erin, Suzy, Ashley, David
and cook Travis Jo. Vegetarian food does not abound in
Cádiz).
Another shot of the Cádiz coastline from the Paseo Marítimo,
thanks to Bryn, who purchased the postcard! But the comment is
hers:
Another very typical scene in Cádiz, particularly any Friday or
Saturday night (thanks, Rita). Rita returns for a 2nd year with
next
year's program!
Katie tells us about her trip to Barbate, down the coast a ways.
"Mis amigos y yo fuimos a Barbate, un pueblo pequeño cerca del mar
y dimos
una vuelta por los acantilados. Almorzamos con una vista
de las colinas de
África en la distancia. (My friends and I hiked up some cliffs
overlooking Barbate, a little seaside town south of Cádiz. When we
stopped for lunch, we could see the hills of Africa in the distance.)"
