The long term goal of the sediment dynamics component of STRATAFORM is to link sediment transport processes on the continental shelf and slope to the formation and preservation of event beds in sediment deposits

As part of the overall STRATAFORM program our group has maintained an instrumented tripod and mooring on the Eel River shelf and slope(at the S60 and Y450 sites, respectively) over the past five years.  For the shelf observational program, two identical tripods were constructed and have been alternated on-site every four months since September 1995 continuously to the present
