This is a page for nothing in particular, just links to things that I do or read or just find interesting.
I'm a Texan by birth but grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a few miles from two marvels of the world, the Corn Palace and Wall Drug.
I have few hobbies, but one is the martial arts. I started training in Shotokan Karate in 1991 in Minneapolis and earned a blackbelt in 1993 under Master Hidetaka Nishiyama (pictured on the left). Since then I have trained in Boston, New York, and Austin, and for short periods of time in France, Ireland, and India. I currently train with Senseis Kris Haight and Cathy Cline through the Western Washington Shotokan Karate Club, which is under the direction of Master Cathy Cline.
Aside from the occasional karate chop, I like to read two blogs: Arts and Letters Daily and Sepia Mutiny. I also love this blog maintained by a friend of mine and colleague: Adventures of a Desi Knitter.
