Turok: Evolution was a pleasant surprise for me. It was one of those games that was priced way too low to be true, which usually means that it blows and retailers are trying to unload it before everybody hears about how crappy the game is. In my situation, I hadn't heard anything about this game and despite knowing about this stereotype, I bought it anyway. I'm glad that I did because it is actually a good game that is truly fun to play.

This game is similar to James Bond: Agent Under Fire in that there are two types of levels; shooting levels and flying levels. The shooting levels are your standard FPS levels with tons of violence. The flying levels consist of you flying around a pterodactyl with missiles and machine guns. I enjoy both of these levels and find that they are fun to play.

The staple of the previous Turok games has been violence and gore, and this game doesn't stray far from this precedence. In fact, the main appeal of this game is the excessive amount of violence and guns that you can acquire. Without these, the game is just like the countless other FPS games out there. Its kind of fun as long as your Mom, girlfriend, etc. isn't putting too much of a fuss over it.

The game levels are very big, especially the flying levels, and it is fun to simply walk around to see all the sights. The settings range from mountain top levels to inside of cities, to flying through narrow valleys. This adds a lot of variety to the game and there is always something new to do. The objective of each level is usually to blow everything up, but it is presented in so many different ways that it keeps things interesting.

I'm not sure what kind of replay this value this game has because I only played through it once, but this isn't something that I'm too concerned about. Most people that get a FPS aren't looking to play the thing every day for 6 months, they usually want to have fun with it while it lasts and then add it to their collection. If this is what you're looking for, Turok: Evolution is a great, and economical choice that won't hurt your wallet and leave you feeling satisfied with your purchase.
