Tianwei graduated from Vanderbilt Univerisity in 2015 with a BE in Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. She also completed an MS in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington in 2017. During her undergraduate and master’s career, she worked on a few different techniques for target delivery of therapeutics, including nanoparticles and polymeric structures. Finding herself more interested in the molecular basis of diseases, she chose to pursue her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Washington. Tianwei joined the Xu lab in the summer of 2017 and her project focuses on the antibiotic resistance in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Outside of the laboratory, Tianwei enjoys reality shows, board games and Tae Kwon Do.
