Some information is provided for twenty-two North American cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, St. Louis, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington, D.C. Information is provided for a few cities outside of North America as well. Numerous links to a variety of websites and other information sources are also provided for those who wish more detail as is an issues and a debate page which includes both pro and con views.

This site has been stimulated primarily by the 1997 publication authored by Douglas Porter entitled Transit-Focused Development, Transit Cooperative Research Program Synthesis #20, and uses parts of its content as its starting point. Efforts to update and expand the content of this report are being made more or less continuously. This website was initiated April 21, 1999.
