Welcome

The Galactic Discovery Project is dedicated to teaching future data-mining astronomers the tools and techniques being used today. A unique feature of this project is its authors: a team of undergraduate students who developed all exercises and wrote all tutorials. The exercises are based on the Milky Way structure research being done at the University of Washington by prof. Željko Ivezić and his collaborators.

The site includes various activities designed for high school and undergraduate students, reference materials, and a forum for exchanging ideas and asking questions. Please explore the site, participate in the activities, join the forum and do let us know if you have any questions!
