(Personalize this information.  Make sure to explain how you expect each communication tool to be used, and whether use of a tool is required or graded! Delete the notes in red after you have read them!)

We have several mechanisms for communication in this course, including online forums, a e-mail list, chat room, and regular email. You may also elect to use other tools with fellow classmates.

Online Forums (EPosts)

General Discussion Forum

This forum (make this a link to your general Catalyst E-Post forum) is for all course discussion outside of the pre-assigned forums for lectures, readings, and exercises.  To make a general announcement to the class, please use the general discussion forum. Please reserve the course e-mail list for time-sensitive announcements.

Module-Specific Forums

Each module has a discussion forum for the lecture and one for the readings. Please let me know if you'd like any other forums created.

  • If you have module-specific forums, link to them here
  • Module 1 forum
  • Module 2 forum
  • and so on...

E-submit

If you are not using E-submit for your class, please remove this section.

Some (or all) of your assignments will be turned in via E-submit, a Catalyst tool.

E-submit instructions

Catalyst provides two versions of E-submit guides:

E-submit areas

Link your E-submit areas here. You might want to put links to them on the respective assignment pages too.  Here are the E-submit areas to turn in your assignments:

  • Assignment 1
  • Assignment 2

E-mail list (Mailman)

You have all been subscribed to our course e-mail list. Mailman is the software that manages the e-mail list; see this page for more information about using Mailman.

To make a general announcement to the class, please use the general discussion forum. Please reserve the course e-mail list for time-sensitive announcements.

To post messages to the class, send a message to the e-mail list at: lisXXXtu_sp03@u.washington.edu. (Change this so it is correct for your course.)

Chat

This course's chat room is located here. The chat room will be used for logistics discussions and questions about assignments. It is the equivalent of office hours, and is not required or graded. My weekly chat is at day and time. (Change the day and time so it is correct for you.)

For help with library or research questions, you can chat with UW librarians at Q&A Live.
