Introduction to
Biomedical & Health Informatics

Class times: Tues/Thurs, 2:30 - 3:50pm.
Office hours: Thurs 4 - 5pm, or by apptm.

Course description:

This is the introductory graduate-level course in Biomedical and Health Informatics. We will cover the breadth of biomedical and health informatics concepts, theories, and applications, including a bit of its historical evolution as well as its current and future research trends. The focus will be on the science of biomedical informatics, but we will also cover the most significant practical applications in the field. This course will cover four foundational areas of research that may be applied in three domain areas within biomedical informatics:

Foundational areas Application domains
Knowledge representation Biology
Decision support Clinical medicine
Information access Public health
Socio-technical issues
