Note: Corrections to Lecture 21. The rule for linear polyatomics is there are 3N-5 vibrations for a molecule with N atoms. For carbon dioxide N=3 so 3N-5=4. For non-linear molecules like water the rule is 3N-6. For water 3N-6=3. See lecture 21.

Announcements for Homework 1 and all other Homework Assignments: 

Completed Homework Assignments should be scanned into .pdf files and deposited into the dropbox on the Canvas (not the Catalyst) Web site. Homework Solutions will be posted  on the Canvas Web site after the time on the date due.  

 Tutorials will  be held at 830 and 1030 on March 12 to discuss final exam topics and HW 8.  HW 8 will be due at midnight Friday March 13.
