Modeling a Catalytic Converter

The purpose of the project was to model a catalytic converter with different cross-sections.  The converter was first modeled in two dimensions with a circular cross-section with an annulus of catalytic material surrounding it.  The converter was then modeled in three dimensions with a square cross-section and with catalyst material surrounding the fluid channel.  The fluid was solved with a fully developed plug flow profile.  The concentration profiles for the two dimensional (left) and three dimensional (right) models can be seen in the figures above.  The temperature profiles for this experiment were not solved correctly and only showed a temperature increase of approximately 2K when the expected change in temperature was around 500K.  Further work is needed to model the temperature profiles correctly.
