Reactor
Feed
As we mentioned before, ethylenes
like me are the primary material used in this process.
The ethylene feed must have a purity of at least 99.9%,
which means only one out of 1000 particles in the feed
cannot be one of us. This feed is compressed into the pressures needed for the reactor through one or several steps. |
Once ethylene is compressed, it is pumped into the reactor through a long heated tube or mixed in a tank. Pumps inject the aggressive oxidizing chemicals mentioned earlier into the reactor to start the reaction.
