This set of pages allows the calculation of the the minimum and maximum fluid velocities for fluidization, as described on the Fluid Mechanics of FBRs Page. These values are then used, along with the user supplied expansion factor, to calculate the superficial velocity (u) required for the system and the Froude number under which the system is operating.
The calculations are run by a form-fed script. The form contains a number of input boxes, which have default values for the parameters of the Ergun equation.
Simply enter the desired values for the parameters, press the "Calculation" button, and the script will return the values of uo, ut, and u along with the Reynolds number used in the ut calculation and the system's Froude number.

It is also necessary to have an idea of the expansion desired, as mentioned above. This parameter is used in conjunction with the void fraction to determine the operating velocity of the bed.
