... and our graduates

Within the lab we typically have students from the College of Forest Resources and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Quantitative Ecology and Resource Management though we have also had gradutae students from the Department of Statistics and the Department of Applied Mathematics.

From time to time we do have positions for undergraduates who are interested in laboratory and field work.

We have weekly lab meetings which usually focus on some aspects of somebody's research, such as a paper or a presentation, or rehearsal for some stage of academic passages, such as general exams.  The lab is also the focus of a photosynthesis discussion group that discusses how to use photosynthesis measuring equipement, the LICOR-6400 and Walz MiniPam fluorescence meter, and how to interpret results.

We collaborate with a number of other labs: with Professor Charlie Halpern in the analysis of silvicultural treatments to enhance biodiversity and Professor Elizabeth Van Volkenburgh in the analysis of maize productivity.  We are cooperating with the Forest Service Wildlife group at their Olympia lab in the spatial analysis of flying squirrel distributions in relation to vegetation structure and, in cooperation with Professor James Agee , with the Forest Service fire analysis group in Wenatchee in relationto the optimal distribution of forest treatments to minimize spread of wildfire.
