Homework and written work
The grader has 180 homeworks to grade: he/she cannot spend time trying to
figure out disorganized or illegible work.
Statistics is not Mathematics. Statistics is about explaining data.
If you do not explain your answers you are not doing Statistics.
I have read the web page concerning
Standards for written work.
I am aware that to obtain points in any question or part-question
in any written work, I must
- Write clearly and legibly
- Justify or explain EVERY answer
- Show work relating to numerical answers.
Exams, and quizzes.
I know that the midterm exam will be in class on
Friday February 2, and if I
have unavoidable conflict with this, I will let the instructor know, in writing,
as soon as possible.
(By having an early midterm, the midterm, 2 quizzes, and about half the
homeworks should be returned before the last drop day for this class.)
I know that there will be closed-book
Quizzes in Thursday sections in weeks
3, 7 and 9. Grades will be based on the best 2 of 3 quizzes. If a quiz
is missed for reasons other than illness or personal emergency, that quiz
will score 0. If 1 or 2 quizzes are missed due to
documented
illness or personal emergency, some adjustment will be made.
I know that the final exam is on Tuesday March 13, at 8.30 a.m.
and that this is the official
UW time for the exam for this class. I am aware that, if I do not take
the final exam at the scheduled time, I can not receive a grade in this
class this quarter.
Statement
I have read the above information, and the
information on the web pages regarding
the schedule,
course grading and requirements, and
standards for written work.
